Wadsworth Remains in Lieutenant Governor Race Despite Ongoing Legal Battle, Recent Records Reveal

Nicole Wadsworth Continues Alabama Lieutenant Governor Campaign Amid Controversy

In a week marked by challenges, Nicole Wadsworth remains committed to her campaign for Alabama’s lieutenant governor, asserting her dedication to advocating for the state’s hardworking citizens. The Republican candidate’s campaign, however, faced turmoil with the resignation of her original team amid scrutiny over her academic credentials.

Wadsworth, previously Nicole Jones, recently navigated a complex legal issue concerning a Madison County real estate deal, which saw her facing a significant judgment for falsifying property ownership claims. Although the $837,030 judgment was initially upheld, it was vacated by the court in April, leaving many questions about her professional integrity.

The candidate’s campaign materials previously boasted four degrees and various professional certifications. Her recent request to be referred to as "Dr. Nicole Wadsworth" raised eyebrows as her claimed Ph.D. was later confirmed to be from North Central Theological Seminary—a religious, online institution—rather than the University of Alabama as initially stated. Following media inquiries and a wave of misinformation claims, her campaign staff resigned.

Despite setbacks, Wadsworth insists her mission to give every Alabamian a voice continues, as she contends with prominent opponents such as Secretary of State Wes Allen and Agriculture Commissioner Rick Pate in the upcoming GOP primary.

Her husband, Rep. Tim Wadsworth, also faces reelection challenges in the House District 14, where he previously encountered a tough GOP primary. As the couple navigates their political journeys, residents will be watching closely to see how these controversies impact their campaigns moving forward.

Wadsworth’s campaign, having made an initial $20,000 personal investment, emphasizes resilience in the face of adversity, affirming their commitment to fight for Alabama’s working families.
