Tragic Head-On Crash Claims Life of Hartselle Woman in Cullman County
CULLMAN COUNTY, AL – A head-on collision in Cullman County resulted in the death of a 55-year-old woman and left five others injured on Sunday afternoon. The victim has been identified as Cynthia Ruth Baker Reeves, a resident of Hartselle.
The accident occurred around 3 p.m. on Cullman County Road 222, approximately one mile south of Crane Hill. According to Alabama State Troopers, Reeves was driving a Chevrolet Impala when she collided with a Chevrolet Silverado operated by 39-year-old Shawn P. Bagwell of Cullman.
Trooper Gregory Corble reported that Reeves was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the impact and was pronounced dead at the scene. Bagwell sustained injuries and was airlifted to UAB Hospital in Birmingham for treatment. In addition, four children, aged 14, 13, 11, and 8, who were passengers in the Silverado, also suffered injuries and were transported to a hospital.
An investigation into the crash is ongoing as troopers gather further information regarding the circumstances leading up to the collision.
This tragic incident underscores the importance of seatbelt use and safe driving practices, especially in light of the serious consequences that can arise from automobile accidents.
