A tragic single-vehicle crash claimed the life of 36-year-old Derek L. Humphries, a resident of Holly Pond, in Cullman County on Sunday afternoon. Humphries was identified as the victim of the fatal accident by the Alabama State Troopers, who reported that the incident occurred around 4:40 p.m. on Interstate 65, just north of Vinemont.
According to Senior Trooper Cody Farrar, Humphries was driving a Kawasaki Ninja when he veered off the interstate and collided with a guardrail. The impact caused Humphries to be ejected from the motorcycle, and he was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash.
