Man convicted in 2021 Taco Bell slaying by North Alabama jury

Kenov Yenovi Williams, a 26-year-old man from Georgia, was convicted of capital murder by a Marshall County jury for the 2021 double killing of Elias Gaspar Lopez, 19, and Enrique F. Rodrigues Alvarado, 17, outside a Guntersville restaurant. The two teenagers were shot to death on September 23, 2021 outside a Taco Bell.

Williams was found guilty on multiple charges including murder of two or more people, murder during a first degree robbery, murder using a deadly weapon on a victim inside a vehicle, and criminal conspiracy to commit first degree robbery. He was sentenced to life without parole on the murder counts and 20 years for the conspiracy charge by Judge Christopher Abel.

During the trial, prosecutors used Snapchat data and witness accounts to show that Williams, who was acting as a drug dealer, planned to rob and murder the victims as an act of retaliation. Marshall County District Attorney Jennifer Bray expressed sympathy for the families of Lopez and Alvarado and hoped that the jury’s decision to convict Williams and his life sentence brought them some sense of justice.

“Williams’s heinous acts at Taco Bell on that night in September 2021 changed the course of many lives,” Bray stated. “We thank Judge Abel for ensuring that Williams will never live outside of a prison cell.” The conviction brings some closure to the families of the victims, as Williams will spend the rest of his life behind bars for his brutal crimes.
