Father’s argument with another man leads to gunfire, injuring 12-year-old boy in west Birmingham

A 12-year-old boy was injured in a shooting incident in Birmingham on Saturday evening. The incident occurred in the Central Park neighborhood, where two men got into an argument that escalated into gunfire. The boy, who was at a nearby home, was struck in the upper body by a bullet. He was taken to Children’s of Alabama for treatment and is expected to recover from his injuries.

The two men involved in the argument exchanged gunfire, with one shooting from inside the home and the other firing from outside. Fortunately, neither of the shooters was injured in the incident. The 12-year-old boy was caught in the crossfire and sustained injuries, but it is unclear whether he was shot or grazed by a bullet.

The Birmingham police are investigating the incident and are gathering facts to determine if charges will be filed. The homeowner, who was one of the shooters, remained on the scene and is cooperating with the authorities. The second shooter fled the scene but has been identified by the police.

Officer Truman Fitzgerald expressed concern over the incident, stating that it is another unfortunate situation where a dispute between adults led to the injury of an innocent party. The police are working to determine who was the aggressor in the incident and are urging anyone with information to come forward.
