Disney wowed fans at the D23 convention with a showcase that featured teasers of upcoming movies and series such as “Moana 2,” as well as surprise appearances from stars like Dwayne Johnson and Jude Law. CEO Bob Iger emphasized the importance of entertainment, showcasing new films in the “Avatar,” “Toy Story,” and “Incredibles” franchises.
Auli’i Cravalho and Dwayne Johnson performed a song from “Moana 2” to much enthusiasm from the crowd. Johnson announced his continued collaboration with Disney on projects like a live-action “Monster Jam” movie. Other highlights included updates on “Star Wars” projects, the development of a third “The Incredibles” movie, and the announcement of “Frozen III” set to release in 2027.
Marvel updates were also teased, with new series such as “Ironheart” and “Fantastic Four” in the works. The first look at “Daredevil: Born Again” was revealed, featuring Charlie Cox reprising his role as Matt Murdock.
Musical moments were a big part of the showcase, with exclusive looks at new songs from “Mufasa: The Lion King,” the live-action “Snow White” film, and the “Tron: Ares” movie scored by Nine Inch Nails. Kathryn Hahn performed a new song from her upcoming Marvel series “Agatha All Along.”
The highly anticipated “Freaky Friday” sequel was also announced, titled “Freakier Friday,” with Jamie Lee Curtis and Lindsay Lohan sharing the first images from the film. Pixar announced new films and series, including the original film “Hoppers” and the upcoming movie “Elio” starring Zoe Saldaña. With so much excitement and anticipation building around Disney’s upcoming projects, fans have a lot to look forward to in the near future.
