Creative leader from Birmingham selected to head Alabama Film Office

Meghann Bridgeman, CEO of Create Birmingham, has been appointed as the new director of the Alabama Film Office, taking on the role in January. With a background in creative industries and economic development, Bridgeman is expected to bring innovation and growth to the film industry in Alabama.

Last year, the film sector in Alabama saw nearly $60 million in investments, and Bridgeman plans to expand the office’s focus to encompass music productions and video games while continuing to prioritize workforce development and training in motion pictures.

Alabama Commerce Secretary Ellen McNair expressed confidence in Bridgeman’s ability to lead the Alabama Film Office and leverage the state’s unique assets to attract more entertainment projects, benefitting local businesses and communities.

Bridgeman’s previous experience with Create Birmingham’s Film Birmingham Initiative has prepared her for this new role, where she aims to drive economic growth through the entertainment industry, ensuring that Alabamians reap the benefits.

In the interim, Kathy Faulk will continue to oversee the Film Office, with McNair acknowledging her significant contributions and tireless efforts in expanding Alabama’s presence in the entertainment industry. With Bridgeman’s appointment, exciting new developments are on the horizon for the Film Office in Alabama.
