Cats Sweep Jaguars in Doubleheader

In a doubleheader on the opening day of the Bear Down Fiesta, No. 15 Arizona secured two wins against South Alabama. Miranda Stoddard stood out with four home runs, a triple, and seven RBIs. In the first game, the Wildcats won 7-6, with Stoddard hitting two home runs and Sydney Stewart contributing a two-run double. The Jaguars tied the game multiple times, but the Cats ultimately secured the win with a walk-off sac-fly from Paige Dimler.

In the second game, Arizona dominated with a 15-0 run-rule victory in five innings. Stoddard hit two more home runs, bringing her total to four on the day. Brooke Mannon and Aissa Silva combined for a no-hitter, the 97th in program history. The Cats hit four home runs and scored five runs in each of the first three innings.

Stoddard’s impressive performance, along with the pitching duo’s no-hitter, contributed to the Wildcats’ successful doubleheader sweep. With this strong start to the season, Arizona looks to continue their winning streak against Cal State Fullerton on Friday. Fans can catch the action on ESPN+ as the Wildcats aim to maintain their momentum in the Bear Down Fiesta.
