Baker Mayfield, quarterback for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, shrugged off the New Orleans Saints defense on Sunday and didn’t let the Texas Longhorns’ flag-planting incident after their win over Oklahoma get to him. Longhorns players Anthony Hill Jr. and Barryn Sorrell stuck a Texas flag through a Mayfield Oklahoma jersey at the 50-yard line after their 34-3 victory. Mayfield, a native of Austin, Texas, who played for Oklahoma, brushed off the incident, saying he’s been living rent-free in Longhorns’ heads for almost a decade. Hill Jr. explained that the flag-planting was in response to actions by Oklahoma fans in the past. Despite the turnovers, Mayfield threw for 325 yards and four touchdowns in the game against the Saints, leading the Buccaneers to a 51-27 victory. Mark Heim, a reporter for The Alabama Media Group, shared the news on Twitter. Fans can catch Heim on “The Opening Kickoff” on WNSP-FM 105.5 FM in Mobile or through the Sound of Mobile App from 6 to 9 a.m. daily.
