Mobile police were forced to open fire on a driver who used a stolen skid-steer loader to try and hit a person and an officer on Thursday morning. The incident took place near the intersection of Noble Drive and Noble Lane in Tillmans Corner. The driver refused to stop when officers attempted to pull them over and instead fled the scene. The driver even traveled the wrong way on the I-10 westbound before turning around and exiting the interstate. During the chase, the driver intentionally struck a Mobile police unit causing significant damage. The chase continued with the driver making several attempts to hit patrol vehicles and officers. Ultimately, officers were forced to use gunfire to stop the driver, who was then taken to a local hospital for treatment. It is unclear at this time if the driver was struck by the gunfire. The incident is currently under investigation and further details are not yet available. This alarming event highlights the dangers that law enforcement officers face on a daily basis while trying to protect the public.
