Auburn Men’s Relay Team Clinches Second National Title at NCAA Championships
Auburn University’s men’s 4x100m relay team achieved a remarkable feat by defending their national title at the NCAA Track and Field Championships on Friday evening, clocking in at an impressive 38.33 seconds. The Tigers showcased exceptional teamwork and speed, with Kanyinsola Ajayi making a crucial separation during the second leg, propelling Auburn towards victory for the second consecutive year.
Makanakaishe Charamba, who anchored the relay team, proved to be a formidable presence throughout the season. Earlier in April, he was awarded the SEC Men’s Runner of the Week after achieving a staggering time of 19.99 seconds in the 200m at the Tom Jones Memorial meet in Gainesville, Florida. Following the race, Charamba expressed confidence in his teammates, stating, "These three guys trust me to bring the stick home. So, I just get in beast mode, and nobody is going to catch me."
In addition to the relay success, Auburn’s Ja’Kobe Tharp highlighted the evening by winning the men’s 100m hurdles championship with a time of 13.05 seconds, marking it the third fastest time in the world for the current season.
The achievements of the Auburn team not only exemplify their dominance in collegiate track and field but also signal a bright future for the athletes involved. With both Charamba and Tharp shining on the national stage, fans and followers of Auburn athletics are eager to see what’s next for these talented competitors.
