The University of Alabama Moundville Archaeological Park is hosting its annual Knap-In from February 28 to March 1, bringing together stone toolmakers and flint knappers from across the country. Flint knapping, the art of shaping stone into tools like arrowheads, has been practiced for thousands of years. Dr. Clay Nelson, director of the park, highlights the significance of stone tools in preserving ancient cultures and traditions.
Visitors to the Knap-In will have the opportunity to learn from expert craftsmen who have been honing their skills for decades. The event runs from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. each day, with the park grounds open from dawn to dusk. The location of the park is at 634 Mound State Parkway, Moundville, AL 35474.
