Central-Phenix City Advances to State Playoffs Finals After Semifinal Victory

In an exciting weekend of high school football, Central-Phenix City edged out Hoover with a decisive 17-7 victory in the Class 7A semifinals, securing their spot in the state championship game. Thompson also showcased their dominant form by defeating Enterprise 31-7, positioning themselves as strong contenders in this year’s playoff race.

In the Class 6A quarterfinals, Oxford narrowly defeated Fort Payne 28-26, while Parker High School triumphed over Muscle Shoals with a convincing 35-10 win. In a tight matchup, Pike Road managed to outlast Hueytown 11-8, and Saraland put on an impressive performance against Spain Park, winning 45-19.

The Class 5A quarterfinals saw Catholic-Montgomery defeating Central – Clay County 21-9, while Leeds delivered a high-scoring victory against Corner with a 57-36 finish. Moody dominated Ramsay with a 49-7 scoreline, and Vigor took down UMS-Wright 41-10.

In Class 4A action, Cherokee County prevailed over Brooks with a narrow 21-14 win, while Jackson dominated Tallassee 41-10. St. Michael Catholic earned a convincing victory against Fairfield, winning 42-25, and West Morgan triumphed over Anniston with a score of 50-20.

Class 3A features Houston Academy’s narrow 17-14 victory over T.R. Miller, alongside Mars Hill Bible’s 28-13 win against Winfield. Piedmont narrowly defeated Fyffe 30-28 in overtime, while Southside-Selma edged Bayside Academy 26-24.

In the Class 2A quarterfinals, Highland Home defeated Ariton 44-13, and Reeltown took down Cottonwood 42-20. Sulligent emerged victorious against Winston County with a score of 38-12, while Tuscaloosa Academy beat Pisgah 44-34.

Finally, in Class 1A, Elba dominated Georgiana with a remarkable 62-20 victory, Hackleburg edged Lynn 32-19, and Maplesville won decisively against Millry 42-7. Wadley moved on with a commanding 67-26 victory over Berry.

All eyes will now be on the upcoming finals as these talented teams vie for championship glory.
