Alabama conducted tests of helmet communication and sideline iPads during a scrimmage.

Alabama football coach Kalen DeBoer and his staff will have a new way of communicating with players during games this season thanks to the introduction of helmet communications. This technology allows coaches to relay play calls directly to players like Jalen Milroe during games. The Crimson Tide recently held its first preseason camp scrimmage at Bryant-Denny Stadium, giving them a chance to test out the new equipment.

In addition to helmet communications, schools in the SEC, including Alabama, are now allowed to use tablets to view film during games. UA will be using Apple iPads for this purpose. DeBoer mentioned that during Saturday’s scrimmage, they took breaks to familiarize themselves with the iPads and understand how they can benefit from using them between drives.

Alabama will have two more scrimmages at Bryant-Denny Stadium during preseason camp before their season opener against Western Kentucky on August 31. The team will also be at the stadium on Sunday for their Fan Day event, which is open to the public.

Overall, the introduction of these technologies is expected to provide coaches and players with new tools to improve communication and analysis during games. Alabama fans can look forward to seeing how these innovations will impact the team during the upcoming season.
