Justin Cordero Hall, 36, has been charged with murder in the shooting death of 31-year-old Ladarrius Antonio Kennedy, which occurred on the city’s west side. Kennedy died more than a week after being injured in the shooting, which took place outside a Chevron station following an argument. Hall was initially charged with attempted murder, but this charge was upgraded to murder after Kennedy’s death.
The shooting occurred on July 29 and Kennedy passed away on August 6 at UAB Hospital. Hall was apprehended near Rickwood Field, though the motive for the shooting remains unclear. He is currently being held in the Jefferson County Jail on a $100,000 bond.
Kennedy’s death marks the 94th homicide in Birmingham this year. Of the 119 homicides in Jefferson County in 2024, eight have been deemed justifiable and non-criminal. Authorities continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding Kennedy’s death as the community grapples with the ongoing issue of violence in the area.
