Senator Tuberville Tops Fundraising in Key Alabama Races
MONTGOMERY, Ala. — As the 2026 election cycle kicks off, early fundraising reports reveal U.S. Senator Tommy Tuberville as the dominant financial player in Alabama’s gubernatorial race. According to reports filed with the Alabama Secretary of State, Tuberville has amassed an impressive $5.2 million in contributions, significantly outpacing his Democratic and independent opponents. After expenditures nearing $500,000, he retains approximately $4.75 million, positioning him well ahead at this stage.
Currently, Tuberville is the sole Republican candidate for governor, which has allowed him to consolidate financial support. Democrat Will Boyd Jr. and independent candidate Chad “Chig” Martin trail significantly, with Boyd raising only $9,250 and maintaining just $1,836 in cash after spending. Martin has raised slightly more, at just over $6,000, but remains far behind Tuberville’s financial clout.
In other key races, the lieutenant governor contest appears more competitive, with five GOP candidates collectively raising close to $1 million. Wes Allen leads with $403,723 raised, while Richard Stewart Pate follows with $270,567, bolstered by an additional $100,000 from other receipts. The attorney general race is shaping up to be fiercely contested as well, with James Letcher Mitchell and Katherine Robertson nearly neck-and-neck, having raised $1.72 million and $1.51 million respectively.
In the secretary of state race, Caroleene Dobson holds a strong cash advantage with $600,489 on hand, primarily thanks to significant non-traditional contributions. Her opponent, Justin Andrew Sorrell, raised more in direct contributions but reported higher expenses.
With more than a year until the election, these early financial disclosures highlight the significant fundraising efforts underway, setting the stage for the forthcoming political battles in Alabama.
