Republican Endorsements Propel Wes Allen’s Bid for Lieutenant Governor in Alabama
MONTGOMERY, Ala. — The 2026 election season is heating up as Alabama Secretary of State Wes Allen secures substantial backing in his campaign for lieutenant governor. On Monday, Allen announced that 39 of the 73 GOP members of the Alabama House of Representatives have publicly endorsed him.
“I am grateful for the endorsement of so many conservative Republicans in the Alabama House of Representatives,” Allen stated, expressing appreciation for the support from legislators who recognize his commitment to Alabama’s conservative values. Many of these legislators have partnered with Allen in various initiatives aimed at protecting those values.
Allen began his public service as a probate judge in Pike County in 2009, continuing in that role until 2018 when he was elected to the Alabama House, representing District 89. In January 2023, he became the 54th secretary of state of Alabama and announced his intention to run for lieutenant governor the following month.
With current Lt. Gov. Will Ainsworth unable to seek re-election due to term limits, Allen has stepped forward as a leading candidate. Though Ainsworth will not pursue the governorship as previously speculated, Allen faces competition from Alabama Department of Agriculture Commissioner Rick Pate and real estate developer Nicole Wadsworth in the upcoming GOP primary.
Among Allen’s notable achievements as secretary of state include reforms in the state’s voter roll system and the implementation of the Alabama Voter Integrity Database (AVID), enhancing election integrity in Alabama.
As the campaign unfolds, Allen’s growing support from Republican legislators positions him as a formidable candidate for the state’s lieutenant governorship.
