Strong Introduces Golden Dome Caucus with Colorado Legislator

Rep. Dale Strong Launches House Golden Dome Caucus to Advance Missile Defense Initiative

WASHINGTON — U.S. Representative Dale Strong (R-Huntsville) announced the establishment of the House Golden Dome Caucus, aimed at promoting defense policies and funding to support a proposed missile defense shield known as the Golden Dome. This initiative, announced alongside Congressman Jeff Crank (R-CO), aligns with President Donald Trump’s commitment to bolster national security through advanced missile defense technologies.

Strong emphasized the urgency of addressing current global threats and reinforced the importance of the Golden Dome for his constituents in Alabama. “The president has said that this Golden Dome is going to be funded through this appropriation cycle, and it’s critical to the people I represent,” he stated. With Redstone Arsenal housing the Missile Defense Agency, the region is poised to play a pivotal role in the initiative.

Crank, who represents Colorado Springs—home to the U.S. Space Command headquarters—joined Strong to advocate for the defense project, despite differing views on the headquarters’ location. “Golden Dome is going to be a generational leap forward in the defense of the homeland,” he remarked at the Hudson Institute.

President Trump initially announced his intent for the Golden Dome in January, predicting a total cost of $175 billion. However, the Congressional Budget Office projected that the space-based components could reach up to $542 billion over 20 years. In line with this, the House Armed Services Committee has approved $25 billion for space-based assets to address emerging hypersonic threats.

Strong noted that the caucus will refine the roles of key stakeholders and facilitate communication with the president on defense strategies. Meanwhile, the Senate Golden Dome Caucus, launched by Senator Tim Sheehy (R-MT), aims to collaborate closely with their House counterparts on this critical mission for national security.
