The Alabama College Application Week is in full swing, offering thousands of Alabama seniors the opportunity to apply to colleges and universities across the nation without having to pay application fees. This initiative aims to support young people, especially first-generation and low-income students, in pursuing higher education. The event, happening now through Feb. 28, is an extension of a successful campaign held in October 2024, where over 26,000 seniors applied to institutions statewide.
Colleges and universities participating in the Free App Week have waived application fees, allowing students to apply at no cost. The event, organized by the Alabama College Application Campaign (ALCAC), is in its tenth year and aims to increase the number of students applying and enrolling in postsecondary education.
The list of participating institutions includes universities like Alabama A&M University, Auburn University at Montgomery, and the University of Alabama, as well as community colleges such as Coastal Alabama Community College and Lawson State Community College. Students can find the required application codes and information for each participating college on the Alabama College Application Campaign website.
In addition to waiving application fees, the campaign offers tips on college scholarships and other resources on the Alabama Possible-Cash for College website. This initiative comes as a valuable opportunity for students of all ages to take the next steps in their academic journeys without the financial burden of application fees.
