Alabama fans got a unique glimpse into the Crimson Tide’s football program’s past and present as current head coach Kalen DeBoer joined former coach Nick Saban on ESPN’s “College GameDay” set. DeBoer, formerly with Washington, discussed the team’s consistent preparation and the impact of upperclassmen on the younger players. He explained how he bridged the transition when he first took over the team, emphasizing the importance of meeting the players where they were emotionally. Saban, who won most of his national championships with Alabama, joked that DeBoer had the advantage of the players being tired of him. Mark Heim, a reporter for The Alabama Media Group, covered the event and can be followed on Twitter @Mark_Heim. He also hosts “The Opening Kickoff” on WNSP-FM 105.5 FM in Mobile from 6 to 9 a.m. daily.
