A tragic accident in east Alabama claimed the lives of two individuals on Friday afternoon. The victims have been identified as 55-year-old Micah B. Nash and a young child, who troopers do not identify by name but confirmed was 5 years old. The collision occurred at 12:40 p.m. on Lookout Street near Sand Rock Avenue, east of Sandrock in Cherokee County. According to Senior Trooper Vu Quang, Nash was driving a Ram 1500 when the vehicle veered off the road, struck a culvert, and burst into flames. Both Nash and the child died at the scene of the accident. The 5-year-old was reportedly not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash. A 10-year-old passenger in the vehicle was airlifted to a hospital for treatment. The Alabama State Troopers are conducting an ongoing investigation into the cause of the crash. This tragic incident serves as a reminder of the importance of seatbelt safety and caution while driving, especially when children are passengers. Our thoughts are with the families and loved ones of the victims during this difficult time.
