The Ohio District 5 Area Agency on Aging, Inc. (AAA5) has been recognized with the 2024 USAging Aging Innovations & Achievement Award in the Technology category for its initiative to expand programs through the use of technology. This prestigious award was presented at USAging’s 49th Annual Conference and Tradeshow in Tampa, FL, where AAA5 was celebrated as one of the pioneering programs enhancing the lives of older adults nationwide.
In response to the challenges presented by the COVID-19 pandemic, AAA5 collaborated with its county focal points to identify needs and service gaps for older adults in rural communities. Utilizing funds from the American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) and local resources, AAA5 enhanced its technology infrastructure and equipment to deliver essential programs, workshops, and classes to vulnerable and isolated older adults.

By working closely with county focal points and leveraging resources, AAA5 has successfully increased social engagement and provided valuable content to older adults.
