Lalmba, a non-profit organization based in southern Colorado, has recently brought digital literacy to a remote village in Kenya through their Matoso Education and Empowerment Center. The center, equipped with five computers, has become a hub of learning for children and adults in the community. Many residents, who had never touched a computer before, are now exploring educational resources, playing games, and learning new skills.
The introduction of technology has opened up endless possibilities for the residents, allowing them to access job listings, learn new skills, apply for jobs, and even start businesses. Lalmba has seen firsthand how access to technology can change lives in remote communities that are often overlooked by the international spotlight.
The non-profit’s goal is to expand the center by providing more computers, books, and internet access through Starlink. When Lalmba’s team returns for their annual fundraising walk in June, they plan to officially open the center and ensure long-term access to digital resources for the community.
