Nick Saban Shares Thoughts on Alabama Football Future Amid New Roles
HOOVER, Ala. – Legendary Alabama football coach Nick Saban is stepping into new roles beyond the gridiron, as he prepares to join a federal commission on collegiate athletics established by President Donald Trump. Additionally, Saban is set to return to ESPN’s "College GameDay" this fall, where he has been nominated for a Sports Emmy Award.
Ahead of his appearance at the Drummond Company Celebrity Pro-Am on May 14 during the Regions Tradition golf tournament at Greystone Country Club, Saban reflected on the upcoming 2025 season under new head coach Kalen DeBoer.
"I don’t really have an expectation," Saban expressed. "I know those guys are working hard to be the best they can. It was a difficult transition with the number of players that moved. New system, new people, players in the organization had to make adjustments. I would say that everybody’s probably a little more settled in this year. And I hope they do extremely well."
The Crimson Tide faced challenges in its first season without Saban since 2006, finishing with a 9-4 record—the first time in 17 years the team secured less than 10 wins. Despite these challenges, Saban remains optimistic about the future of Alabama football, acknowledging the complexity of navigating transitions in college athletics.
As Saban balances his new responsibilities, he keeps a close eye on the growth and development of the program, eager to see how the newly settled team performs in the coming years.
