Gas Prices Decline in Alabama, Tracking National Trends
Alabama – [Date] – The average price for a gallon of gasoline in Alabama has decreased by 1.8 cents over the past week, now resting at $2.69, according to GasBuddy’s survey of over 3,300 gas stations statewide. This marks a 2.5 cent decline compared to last month and a notable 36.9 cents lower than last year.
On the national front, gas prices also saw a slight reduction of 1.8 cents, bringing the nationwide average to $3.07 per gallon. Meanwhile, diesel prices decreased by 1.7 cents, averaging $3.448 per gallon across the country.
Patrick De Haan, head of petroleum analysis at GasBuddy, noted that the drop in gas prices is largely attributed to increased refinery output and surging gasoline supplies. “Average gas prices declined in nearly all states over the last week," De Haan explained. He pointed out that while some states are experiencing price cycling—characterized by sharp drops followed by spikes—the overall trend is a consistent decline typical of the summer season.
For Alabama motorists, convenience can be found in the varying price ranges across the state. The lowest recorded gas price was $2.41 per gallon this past Sunday, while the highest reached $3.39. Residents are encouraged to check local gas prices regularly to find the best deals available.
