Illinois-based TreeHouse Foods announces a recall of several frozen breakfast products, including toaster waffles, Belgian waffles, and pancake products, due to potential listeria contamination. The recall affects brands such as Best Choice, Krusteaz, Good & Gather, Better Goods, and Food Lion, with around 200 items being pulled from shelves at major supermarkets like Albertson’s, Aldi, Kroger, Publix, Target, Trader Joe’s, Walmart, and Wegmans.
While there have been no confirmed reports of illness linked to the affected products so far, consumers are advised to check their freezers for any of the recalled items and either dispose of them or return them to the point of purchase for a refund. The full list of recalled brands and breakfast products can be found on the company’s website.
Listeria monocytogenes can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, the elderly, pregnant women, and individuals with weakened immune systems. Symptoms of listeriosis may include fever, muscle aches, and gastrointestinal issues, with more severe cases potentially leading to meningitis or blood infections.
Anyone who believes they may have consumed a contaminated product and is experiencing symptoms should seek medical attention immediately. The company has apologized for any inconvenience caused by the recall and is committed to ensuring the safety and well-being of its customers.
