Thunderstorm Warning Issued for Fayette, Walker, and Tuscaloosa Counties
Fayette County, AL – The National Weather Service has issued a severe thunderstorm warning for Fayette, Walker, and Tuscaloosa counties, effective until 6:15 a.m. on Sunday. The storms, which are expected to feature wind gusts of up to 40 mph and pea-sized hail, were tracked via Doppler radar moving east at 60 mph.
Locations in the warning area include Stone Wall, Whitson, Bankston, and Moores Bridge among others. Residents are advised to seek shelter indoors during these storms due to the risk of gusty winds uprooting tree limbs and blowing debris around. The weather service also emphasizes the dangers posed by frequent cloud-to-ground lightning, which can strike up to 10 miles away from the storm.

After the storm has passed, it’s advised to wait at least 30 minutes following the last lightning or thunder before resuming outdoor activities, as lightning can still pose a threat.
