Update on Tallahassee campus incident: 2 dead, TK injured and all current information

A gunman identified as Phoenix Ikner, 20, opened fire at Florida State University, killing two people and injuring several others. The shooting took place near the student union at 11:50 a.m. Police were able to neutralize and apprehend the suspect after he shot multiple people. Ikner is the son of a sheriff’s deputy and possibly a student at FSU. He was described as a “normal college dude” by a witness and was a member of a youth advisory council with access to weapons. The gun used in the shooting belonged to Ikner’s mother, a former sheriff’s deputy, and police also found a shotgun with him at the scene. The suspect was hospitalized with unspecified injuries.

At least two people died in the shooting, with six others injured, five of whom were treated for gunshot wounds in hospitals. The victims’ identities have not been released, and police have not yet identified a motive for the shooting. A classmate of Ikner’s mentioned that he had white supremacist views and was asked not to return to a political discussion group at Tallahassee State College. The shooting has left the community shocked and searching for answers. Police investigations are ongoing to determine the events that led up to the tragic incident.
