U.S. Rep. Barry Moore, Senate Candidate, Faces Booing at Town Hall and Exits Through the Back Door

Hostile Crowd Challenges Rep. Barry Moore at Town Hall Meeting

Daphne, AL – U.S. Representative Barry Moore faced significant backlash during a town hall meeting at Daphne City Hall on Wednesday night, with attendees vocally opposing his support for President Donald Trump and his policies. Despite being a member of the conservative House Freedom Caucus, Moore struggled to engage a largely hostile crowd for 45 minutes.

Unannounced and not publicized to the media, the meeting drew a crowd primarily opposed to Trump’s agenda. Johnston Tisdale, a local resident and member of the progressive Indivisible Baldwin County, expressed pride in the attendees for holding Moore accountable, stating, “I’m not proud of him.”

Moore, who is gearing up for a U.S. Senate run next year, tackled topics including immigration, election security, and the controversial “Big Beautiful Bill,” which he defended as beneficial for Alabama. He received boos particularly when discussing abortion, affirming his “pro-life” stance without addressing concerns about the implications of near-total abortion bans, prompting strong reactions from the audience.

The atmosphere mirrored recent nationwide town halls, characterized by loud protests against Republican lawmakers. Many attendees suspected the late-notice meetings were designed to minimize opposition responses, with Kayleigh Godwin commenting on the likelihood of receiving unsatisfactory answers.

While the crowd offered rare applause for Moore’s position against erasing history and his acknowledgment of some states using independent boards for redistricting, he faced jeers when defending Alabama’s legislative approach to drawing district lines. Moore previously represented the redistricted 2nd congressional district and won his current seat by defeating incumbent Jerry Carl in the Republican primary.

After the contentious meeting, Moore exited swiftly and did not provide further comment to the press.
