Massive Tulip Fields Raise Funds for Tapping House Hospice
More than 30 acres of vibrant tulip fields near Sandringham, Norfolk, are set to raise an impressive £500,000 for Tapping House hospice in Hillington, King’s Lynn. With an astonishing nine million bulbs planted, the initiative is part of an ongoing fundraising effort by Belmont Nurseries. Tickets for visiting the stunning flower displays will contribute to the essential care services provided by the hospice.
Tapping House is dedicated to offering free support to adults in Norfolk and North Cambridgeshire who are facing life-limiting illnesses, along with assistance for their families and caregivers. This year marks the fourth consecutive fundraising campaign spearheaded by the nurseries, with director Mark Eves expressing pride in the joy these tulip fields bring to the community.
The tulips, known for their mesmerizing beauty, will be harvested three weeks after they bloom, primarily for their bulbs which are then exported. Nikki Ellis, CEO of Tapping House, highlighted the importance of the fundraiser, stating that the hospice requires £6 million annually to maintain its vital services. She shared that the tulip fields embody the hospital’s mission: "It’s about bringing joy to people’s lives.”
These stunning flower fields not only serve as a beautiful attraction but also play a critical role in sustaining the hospice’s operations. Previously featured in the film "Wicked," the fields continue to capture the imagination of visitors, thanks in part to the efforts of dedicated volunteers who plant the bulbs each year.
