President Donald Trump stated in an interview with NBC News that he would not fire anyone involved in a Signal group chat where attack plans were inadvertently revealed to a journalist ahead of a military strike. Additionally, Trump said he “couldn’t care less” if automakers raised prices due to new tariffs on foreign-made automobiles that he announced. He emphasized that automakers making cars in the United States would be unaffected by the tariffs.
In the interview, Trump also discussed his commitment to annexing Greenland in conversations with Denmark. He noted that there is a possibility of acquiring Greenland without the use of military force but reiterated that all options remain on the table. Vice President JD Vance recently visited Greenland and expressed dissatisfaction with Denmark’s treatment of the territory.
Furthermore, Trump rejected concerns that his agenda is causing volatility on Wall Street or decreasing consumer confidence, pointing to polling data that showed a record high number of Americans believe the country is on the right track. He also defended his decision to impose tariffs on foreign auto parts, indicating that they would remain permanently in place.
Regarding the Signal incident, which involved the divulgence of sensitive information, Trump dismissed calls to fire National Security Adviser Michael Waltz and Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth, labeling the issue as “fake news” and a “witch hunt.” He reiterated that the strike on Houthi militants in Yemen was successful and had not compromised any classified information.
