A helicopter crashed into a radio tower in Houston on Sunday, killing all four people on board during an air tour flight. The National Transportation Safety Board is investigating the accident, which occurred at around 7:51 p.m. Officials have not released the identities of those killed, but Houston’s police chief confirmed that one of the victims was a child. The helicopter took off from Ellington Airport in Houston and struck the tower, causing a fire and debris to cover about 4 acres. SBA Communications, which acquired the tower recently, had issued a warning to pilots about the structure. The crash also brought down the tower, damaging some vehicles on the ground, but there have been no reports of injuries to people on the ground. Police and residents in the neighborhood expressed gratitude that the incident didn’t result in more casualties. The NTSB described the wreckage as a “complex scene” and is conducting a meticulous investigation. Overall, the crash was a tragic event, but officials are acknowledging that it could have been much worse.
