A fire at a nursing home kills 20 people in northern China in Chengde city, Hebei province. The fire started at 9 p.m. local time and within six hours, 20 people were confirmed dead. Nineteen people who were uninjured have been transferred to a hospital for observation. Officials are investigating the cause of the fire and a person in charge of the facility has been taken in by police. This incident comes after a fire in January at a food market in Zhangjiakou, also in Hebei province, which killed eight people and injured 15 others. Authorities are working to determine the cause of the nursing home fire and ensure the safety of residents in similar facilities.
