Florida State had a rough 2024 season, finishing 2-10 overall and in last place in the ACC. Quarterback play was a major issue, with DJ Uiagalelei and others struggling. However, the team is already looking towards the 2025 season with the addition of former Boston College QB Thomas Castellanos.
Castellanos had previously led Boston College to a victory over Florida State in September, throwing for 106 yards and 2 TDs while rushing for 73 yards and 1 score. After starting 8 games for the Eagles in 2024, Castellanos announced his plans to transfer, ending the season with 1,366 yards, 18 TDs, and 5 INTs. In 2023, he started every game and finished with 2,248 yards, 15 TDs, and 14 INTs.
Before Boston College, Castellanos began his college career at UCF under current Florida State offensive coordinator Gus Malzahn. The Seminoles are hoping that this reunion will lead to success on the field as they aim to improve their standing in the ACC.
With the addition of Castellanos, Florida State is looking to rebound from a disappointing season and return to relevancy in the conference. Fans will be eager to see how the team performs with a new quarterback at the helm in 2025.
