The conflict in Ukraine has entered its 906th day, with ongoing fighting and political developments shaping the situation. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy revealed that Ukraine’s incursion into Russia’s Kursk region aimed to create a buffer zone. The Ukrainian Air Force destroyed a strategically important bridge in the region, while a drone attack on an oil storage facility in Russia’s Rostov region sparked a fire.
Meanwhile, Russia’s Ministry of Defence announced their forces had taken control of a village in Ukraine’s Donetsk region. The Ukrainian capital, Kyiv, endured a third ballistic missile attack this month, with most weapons intercepted before reaching their targets. President Zelenskyy reported that Russia had launched a significant number of missiles, bombs, and drones against Ukrainian villages and cities.

The International Atomic Energy Agency noted deteriorating safety at the Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant following a drone strike. Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko claimed a large presence of Ukrainian soldiers along the Belarus border, prompting concerns of escalating tensions. However, Ukrainian border service denied any significant changes in the situation.
