Texas Mother Accused of Purchasing Ammo and Tactical Gear for Son’s Planned Middle School Attack

A Texas mother, Ashley Rosalinda Pardo, 33, has been charged with aiding her son’s planned terror attack on his middle school by purchasing ammunition and tactical gear. Pardo was arrested after police learned that her 13-year-old son, a student at Jeremiah Rhodes Middle School in San Antonio, had shown concerning behavior, including violent drawings and an unhealthy obsession with mass shootings.

The situation escalated after the boy was suspended in April for researching mass shootings on a school laptop and later attempted suicide. Following this, he was placed in an alternative school but returned to Rhodes Middle School in May with heightened security measures in place. Alarmingly, on May 11, a family member, identified as the boy’s grandmother, discovered him striking a live bullet with a hammer. The grandmother reported that Pardo had been buying her son military items as compensation for babysitting his younger siblings.

Upon further investigation, the grandmother found loaded magazines, an improvised explosive device, and a note linked to mass shootings and extremist ideologies in the boy’s room. She promptly alerted the authorities, which led to police locating the boy before any harm occurred. He was seen wearing a mask and tactical gear on the day of his arrest.

Pardo, who had previously been warned by both police and child protective services about her son’s behavior, was charged with aiding terrorism. She was released on a $75,000 bond, pending a pre-indictment hearing set for July 17. As part of her bail conditions, she must wear a GPS, remain at home, and undergo weekly drug testing while being prohibited from possessing firearms.
