Taylor Swift’s “Eras Tour Book” has become the biggest book launch of the year so far, selling 814,000 copies over the Thanksgiving holiday weekend. The book, exclusively sold through Target, features over 500 photos from Swift’s world tour, which was the highest-grossing tour of all time. Released for $39.99, the book includes personal reflections from the singer and never-before-seen behind the scenes photos. While some local bookstore owners were upset by the exclusive Target release, others criticized the book for numerous errors including grammar mistakes, typos, and blurry photos.
Despite the criticism, the book launch alongside Swift’s deluxe album “The Tortured Poets Department: The Anthology” saw soaring sales on Black Friday. Target reported that nearly 1 million copies were sold in the first week of release. The book also broke records as the highest-selling book in the Music category since Circana began tracking 20 years ago. Swift also independently released a three-hour concert film from the “Eras Tour,” now available on Disney+.
Response to the “Eras Tour Book” has been mixed, with some fans questioning the quality of the book considering its price point. Target’s executive vice president expressed excitement over the record-breaking sales of the book and album. Despite criticism, the book launch has been a significant success for Swift and Target, dominating the book market and setting a new standard for music-related publications.
