A police officer and a suspected shooter were injured in a shooting incident at a Midtown Atlanta building that houses a Four Seasons hotel and residences. The officer sustained non-life-threatening injuries, while the suspect’s injuries were not specified. The suspect, identified as 70-year-old Jay Stevens Berger, is being investigated for aggravated assault and other possible violations. The police responded to a dispute between a building worker and the suspect on the 33rd floor of the building and attempts to negotiate with him were unsuccessful. The suspect fired multiple shots from the balcony using multiple weapons, prompting a police response. The floors above and below were sealed off during the incident, and traffic below was halted. The Georgia Bureau of Investigation will investigate the officers’ response to the incident. The shelter-in-place order for the area was lifted, and the suspect was taken into custody. The incident occurred in the residential condominium portion of the high-rise, not managed by the Four Seasons hotel.
