Man Charged with Custody Interference After Allegedly Abducting 13-Year-Old Girl
Marshall County, Ala. — Raul Alexis Arellano-Romero, 32, faces charges of custody interference after allegedly abducting a 13-year-old girl from Alabama and transporting her to Arizona. Arellano-Romero, extradited to Alabama and currently held in the county jail, is scheduled for a preliminary hearing on June 18. His bond has been set at $100,000.
The girl, Dayetssi Carrasquillo Pizarro, had been reported missing since April 19 when she was last seen walking her dog in Albertville, Alabama. Following a thorough investigation, she was located safe in Holbrook, Arizona, during a routine traffic stop on Interstate 40. Deputies with the Navajo County Sheriff’s Office noticed a suspicious person hiding under a blanket in Arellano-Romero’s vehicle.
Initially, Arellano-Romero claimed that the passenger was a 19-year-old woman he had met in Las Vegas and planned to take to New Mexico. However, deputies observed inconsistencies in his statements and noticed his nervous behavior. Upon further investigation, they confirmed that the passenger was Dayetssi, who had been reported missing nearly a month earlier. Investigators noted that Arellano-Romero had altered the girl’s appearance with fake tattoos and provided her with a false ID in an apparent effort to evade capture.
The Marshall County Sheriff’s Office indicated that Arellano-Romero had prior involvement with the minor, raising concerns about a potential pattern of behavior. Details concerning past allegations have yet to be released.
