Strong Discusses Government Spending and National Security in Exclusive Interview

Congressman Dale Strong Advances National Security Initiatives for North Alabama

Washington, D.C. – As a sophomore legislator, Congressman Dale Strong has made significant strides on the Appropriations Committee, focusing on enhancing national security in north Alabama. With key federal agencies, including NASA and the FBI, located in Huntsville, Strong advocates vigorously for funding to support crucial programs associated with Redstone Arsenal.

Recent months have seen the House and Senate overcoming President Donald Trump’s proposed budget cuts, ultimately allocating approximately $24.84 billion for NASA, maintaining funding levels, unlike Trump’s suggestion of $18.8 billion. Strong expressed frustration over initial budget proposals but emphasized the importance of his role in advocating for space exploration and national security. The funding bill for NASA, which includes $9.7 billion earmarked for the Space Launch System and Orion spacecraft, awaits further votes.

Strong also opposes the use of continuing resolutions, deeming them detrimental to military operations. With the October 1 deadline approaching, he stresses the urgency for a comprehensive budget. He has shown support for rescinding previously allocated funds for foreign aid that do not compromise national security.

Additionally, the FBI is preparing to relocate 500 employees to Huntsville, a move Strong acknowledges may be challenging but believes will invigorate the local workforce. While an official announcement regarding the relocation of Space Command to Huntsville is still pending, Strong remains optimistic about the prospects.

Further expanding his responsibilities, Strong was recently appointed to the Congressional-Executive Commission on China, addressing foreign ownership of U.S. farmland. He’s focused on combating threats posed by foreign adversaries.

Strong highlighted the collaborative spirit of Alabama’s congressional delegation, asserting that the state has untapped potential for growth and opportunity. As discussions continue, he remains committed to leading efforts that secure funding and drive advancements in national security for north Alabama.
