North Korea has blown up sections of an inter-Korean road on its side of the border, leading to an increase in tensions on the Korean Peninsula. The South Korean military has heightened surveillance and readiness in response. The North accused the South of sending drones over its capital, Pyongyang, which resulted in the spreading of anti-North leaflets. South Korea declined to comment on whether the drones were from the military or civilians. North Korean leader Kim Jong Un held a meeting with defense officials to discuss how to respond to the alleged provocation. The North Korean military blew up parts of the road north of the military demarcation line, prompting Seoul to issue a warning beforehand. The escalating war of words between the two Koreas continues as tensions rise following the recent events.
