South Carolina and Florida Delay Game 2 Amid Ongoing Storms

South Carolina and Florida Series Postponed Amid Storms

COLUMBIA, SC — The highly anticipated Game 2 of the South Carolina vs. Florida baseball series has been postponed due to inclement weather conditions affecting the Columbia area. The storm system, which is expected to linger across much of the Southeast, prompted officials to delay the game shortly after its 1 p.m. ET start.

Though play began, it was halted soon after, and by 3:30 p.m., the game was officially called off while the Gators led 1-0 in the third inning. The teams are now scheduled to resume play on Sunday at 1:30 p.m., beginning from the bottom of the third inning.

According to South Carolina’s official X account, following the conclusion of Game 2, Game 3 will commence 50 minutes later and will be a 7-inning contest.

The weekend has proven challenging for baseball in the Southeastern Conference, with Game 1 on Friday experiencing a lengthy delay that pushed its conclusion to 1:30 a.m. The original start time was set for 7 p.m., but a lightning storm delayed the matchup. Ultimately, the Gators triumphed 9-5, aided by significant performances from Luke Heyman and Ty Evans, the latter of whom hit a grand slam in the fifth inning.

The Gators will look to secure the series on Sunday afternoon, provided weather conditions improve. Fans are hopeful that the storm front will clear, allowing for an uninterrupted day of baseball.

Stay tuned for updates as both teams aim for a successful conclusion to their competitive weekend series.
