South Alabama Football Strengthens Roster with 13 New Additions for 2025 Season

South Alabama has announced the addition of 13 players to its 2025 football roster, enhancing their lineup with 11 transfers from the portal and two junior college recruits. Among the notable new signings are running back Trae’von Dunbar from West Virginia, tight end Nate Forystek from North Dakota State, and offensive lineman Reese Osei-Wusu from Lamar—three transfers that were not publicly committed prior to this announcement.

Joining the Jaguars from the transfer portal are quarterback Zach Pyron (Minnesota), four offensive linemen including Jaylen Booker (Bethune-Cookman) and Brayden Ramey (Florida Atlantic), as well as several defensive contributors such as defensive linemen Stephen Johnson (McNeese) and Emmanuel Waller (UAB), linebacker IBK Mafe (St. Thomas), and cornerbacks Nehemiah Chandler (Georgia Tech) and Greg Johnson (Navy).

In addition to the transfers, Kansas junior college cornerbacks David Houston and Saivion Kenon will also be in the mix—their commitments coming just days apart this week.

Dunbar, a 5-foot-9, 210-pounder, did not see game action last season due to redshirting but enters the squad as a three-star recruit with four years of eligibility remaining. Forystek, 6-6 and 248 pounds, played in two games during his tenure at North Dakota State, while Osei-Wusu has not played in the last two seasons at his previous school.

This follows a busy January during which South Alabama secured 12 transfer players, setting the stage for the Jaguars, who finished the last season with a 7-6 record, to build on their recent success. The team will kick off the 2025 season at home on August 30 against Morgan State.
