Harvey Weinstein, the disgraced Hollywood mogul accused of sexual misconduct, has been diagnosed with chronic myeloid leukemia and is undergoing treatment at Rikers Island prison in New York. This rare form of cancer affects the bone marrow. Weinstein has also recently dealt with emergency heart surgery, Covid-19, and pneumonia. His health issues coincide with his legal battles, as prosecutors seek to combine new charges with previous ones. Weinstein’s 2020 conviction in New York was overturned due to improper rulings, but he was convicted of rape in 2022 in Los Angeles and sentenced to 16 years in prison. His legal team is appealing this conviction. Weinstein’s health concerns add another layer of complexity to his ongoing legal troubles.
