Possible Tornado Strikes Jackson County Amid Storms
Jackson County, AL – A possible tornado impacted the area on Saturday afternoon as severe storms swept through Alabama. According to the Jackson County Emergency Management Agency’s Facebook update, damage was reported near the Rosalie Fire Department around 3:58 p.m. Responders confirmed that the fire department’s building sustained significant damage, including a blown-off roof and door.
A spokesperson from the National Weather Service (NWS) in Huntsville stated that it remains undetermined whether the damage was due to a tornado. Final assessments may not be available until Monday as investigators continue to evaluate the effects.
Witnesses expressed surprise in the Facebook comments, noting that a tornado warning was not in effect for the area when the damage occurred. Instead, the NWS had issued a thunderstorm warning at the time. However, meteorologist James Spann later revealed on social media that at 4:15 p.m., the region, along with parts of DeKalb County, was indeed under a tornado warning.
The severe storms eventually progressed into northwest Georgia later in the afternoon. Local authorities and weather officials continue to monitor the situation as they assess the extent of damage and gather further information on the storm’s impacts.
As the community begins to recover, officials urge residents to remain vigilant and stay informed through reliable weather updates. Further information will be shared as it becomes available.
