Scottsboro Garden Club Spreads Holiday Cheer at Heritage Center
On December 4th, the Scottsboro Garden Club once again showcased its festive spirit during its annual Christmas event at the Scottsboro-Jackson Heritage Center. Seventeen dedicated members gathered to transform the venue into a winter wonderland adorned with an array of holiday decorations.
The ambience was filled with laughter and camaraderie as the women engaged in decorating efforts that felt more like a joyful gathering than a task. While outside, members hung wreaths and boughs, creating a warm welcome for visitors, inside, tables were beautifully lined with fresh greenery, centerpieces, and a variety of festive imagery, including charming snowmen and reindeer. Prominent among the decorations were masterfully arranged floral centerpieces featuring live foliage like cedar, pine, and holly, artfully presented in clear vases. A live cedar garland gracefully draped down the staircase, perfectly complementing the Heritage Center’s historic architecture.
Janet Sage, a member of the club, highlighted the group’s nurturing nature, stating, “We not only decorate the Heritage Center, we decorate McDonald’s too. We have three members battling cancer, and we made care bags for them and check on them regularly." This commitment to community support is a hallmark of the Scottsboro Garden Club, which balances creativity with compassion.
Thanks to the efficient teamwork of these ladies, the Heritage Center was adorned in no time, resulting in a magnificent display that radiated holiday cheer. The stunning decorations, however, paled in comparison to the warm hearts and joyful smiles that filled the room that day. The event not only celebrated the spirit of Christmas but also emphasized the strong bonds of friendship within the Scottsboro Garden Club.
