Ryan Grubb emerges as leader in Alabama football quarterback room following spring practice

Alabama offensive coordinator Ryan Grubb has named Ty Simpson as the starting quarterback if the season were to start tomorrow. However, with the season not beginning until August 30 against Florida State, Grubb is still evaluating the performances of Austin Mack and Keelon Russell. Grubb emphasized that the quarterback group will not be finalized until it meets his expectations.

Simpson, who has the most experience among the Alabama quarterbacks, has 50 career pass attempts and three seasons in the Crimson Tide QB room. Alongside Bryce Young and Jalen Milroe, Simpson will be competing for the starting spot as the team prepares for their season opener at Florida State.

Grubb’s goal is to find the quarterback that will lead Alabama to success in the 2025 season. As the team continues its preparations, Grubb is keeping a close eye on all the quarterbacks in the room to ensure the best decision is made for the team.
