Roger O’Donnell, keyboardist for “The Cure,” revealed his diagnosis of a rare and aggressive form of lymphoma in September. He had ignored symptoms but after surgery, received devastating news. Lymphoma is a type of blood cancer that affects the lymphatic system. O’Donnell underwent 11 months of treatment including immunotherapy, medication, and radiotherapy and now has a positive prognosis. He emphasized the importance of early testing for blood cancer and encouraged those experiencing symptoms to seek medical help. O’Donnell stressed the importance of supporting those who are sick and thanked fans for their words of encouragement. O’Donnell joined “The Cure” in 1987 and was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2019. He performed with the band on their North American tour in 2022 before withdrawing from the Latin American tour due to health reasons.
