Report states Florida State quarterback will enter transfer portal

Florida State quarterback Trever Jackson has decided to enter the transfer portal, as reported by 247Sports’ Matt Zenitz. Jackson, a 4-star prospect from the class of 2024, only lasted one season at Florida State before seeking a new opportunity. Despite being a highly ranked recruit, he did not see any playing time during FSU’s disappointing 2024 season.

Having attended Jones High School in Orlando, Florida, Jackson was ranked as the No. 394 overall player and the No. 26 quarterback in the country for his recruiting class. With other quarterbacks on the roster seeing game time, including transfers and true freshmen, Jackson never got a chance to prove himself.

Florida State is expected to start Boston College transfer Thomas Castellanos at quarterback this season, with Brock Glenn and Kevin Sperry also in the mix. If Jackson had stayed, he would have been competing for a backup role against Glenn. The transfer portal will officially open on April 16 for all players looking for new opportunities.

With this decision, Jackson will now have the chance to explore his options and find a better fit for his playing career. It remains to be seen where he will end up next, but this news marks a new chapter for the young quarterback.
