Preservation Hall Jazz Band to Bring Holiday Cheer to Birmingham

BIRMINGHAM, AL – The holiday spirit is alive and well in Birmingham, with a series of festive events lined up for locals and visitors alike. Highlighting this week’s festivities is the renowned Preservation Hall Jazz Band, set to perform its highly anticipated "Creole Christmas" concert on Friday at 7 p.m. at the UAB Alys Stephens Center’s Jemison Concert Hall. Known for blending New Orleans jazz with holiday classics, the band promises a night of vibrant music and joyous celebration, rooted in a rich historical legacy of inclusivity and cultural heritage.

In addition to the jazzy holiday tunes, the weekend will feature numerous events, including the Third Annual Mistletoe on Main festival in Downtown Leeds, which begins at 4 p.m. on Friday. Families can also enjoy a Christmas parade that evening, alongside various concerts at local venues, such as DJ performances at The Nick Rocks and a hip-hop concert featuring Q Dot and Jaxxxon.

Saturday brings the Sixteenth Annual Wreaths Across America Ceremony at the Alabama National Cemetery, followed by the Saturn Holiday Market, showcasing local arts and crafts. Meanwhile, at the StarDome Comedy Club, audiences can look forward to a variety of performances from comedians such as James “Murr” Murray and Sammy Obeid.

On Sunday, the festive celebration continues with "Sounds of the Season," a concert by the Opera Birmingham Chorus, bringing together music lovers in the spirit of giving. Attendees are encouraged to bring non-perishable food items to donate to local charities.

As this holiday season unfolds, Birmingham invites everyone to join in the celebration, fostering a sense of community through joyful music, laughter, and giving.
